About Andrew Perry

Andrew Perry has been chosen as a candidate in the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce’s Honorary Mayor Program, raising funds for Labor Community Services-Los Angeles and USS IOWA’s Military Veterans Affairs (MVA). As a union leader and Navy veteran, Andrew is deeply committed to supporting working families and those who have served our country.

He was born and raised in Lomita. Andrew attended local schools before joining the U.S. Navy and later pursuing higher education at Los Angeles Harbor College, Cypress College, and Cal State Fullerton. His background in journalism, philosophy, and communications fuels his work as a writer, photographer, and filmmaker—always looking for ways to share stories that matter.

Supporting the Working Class

Andrew is deeply committed to supporting both veterans and the labor community, drawing from his own experiences and leadership roles. As a former electrician aboard an aircraft carrier, he understands the sacrifices of service members and works passionately to ensure veterans receive the care they deserve through the USS IOWA’s Military Veterans Affairs program.

USS IOWA’s Military Veterans Affairs program provides essential services to veterans, ensuring they receive the support they need. As someone who served onboard an aircraft carrier as an electrician, Andrew understands firsthand the sacrifices service members make. “Those who fought on the frontlines are heroes. Many carry the effects of their service long after their time in uniform, and that’s why I’m passionate about supporting this program.”
Labor Community Services - Los Angeles is the primary charitable nonprofit of the Los Angeles Federation of Labor, assisting families of union workers through food distributions, emergency relief, and community support.

- Secretary – AFSCME District Council 36 (DC36), serving 30,000 public sector and nonprofit employees from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
